Sourcing sustainable wood for I Want Plants’ projects

Posted — 30 August 2018

If you were anywhere near I Want Plants’ Hale-base last week, you may have spotted the 40-foot shipping container in our driveway.

This is the result of months and months of painstaking research – and travel – by managing director Richard Rowlands, who has been seeking out sustainable preserved wood to be used in I Want Plants’ existing projects.

Now, instead of dealing with third-party dealers, Richard is working directly with suppliers of preserved wood used in the creation of I Want Plants’ signature faux trees.

The first delivery came all the way from a sustainable forest located on America’s West Coast.

Richard said: “A number of our schemes feature faux trees, so finding a quality supplier of preserved wood was a key business goal in 2018. It was absolutely fantastic to see the first shipping container arrive.

“We already have a number of on-going projects in the pipeline which will be making use of the contents from this first delivery.”
