Oxygen
Oxygen
We're well accustomed to helping our Commercial clients create an ‘urban oasis’ using green infrastructure. These clients have more usually been in the work-space sector, so it’s been a new and exciting juxtaposition assisting Property Alliance Group (PAG), achieve similar within their latest Mancunian Private City Living Scheme, ‘Oxygen’. The name of the Scheme is the first clue to the design concept; evoking a sense of well-being and offering escapism from the city’s freneticity. Upon entering Oxygen, residents/visitors are immediately immersed into beautiful green infrastructure imaginatively adorning all corners of the communal ground floor space.
Working with Interior Design company, Incognito and directly with the Client, PAG, our Project brief concentrated on two communal areas; the Main Entrance Area and the Lower Ground Floor Spa. And in advance of installation on-site, representatives from PAG personally selected which plant varieties they wanted to be used. The project was completed over five days. Both live and artificial plants were used within this project, but specifically artificial plants were used for the lower ground floor spa pool element due to the environmental conditions in such a space.
Alongside live planting into stunning containers including a collection named ‘lava’ owing to their unusual mottled look and texture, the project also included dressing 12 hoops (measuring 1500mm in diameter), suspended from the ceiling.
Using artificial Pothos vines to disguise each hoop, they were then dressed with a mixture of Ivy, Scindapsus and Cerapegia trailing foliage.
There was an abundance of live trough planting - some as long as 6.5 meters in length and these will now be regularly maintained by our Plant Technicians. Specimens included Anthuriums and Calathea.
Trough planting also included high level wall mounted displays and these were planted with a mix of artificial plants.
Even before Green Infrastructure was added, attention to the design aesthetics gave the Entrance visual interest, by way of a fluted/piped wall design which was enhanced further with smaller artificial foliage attached.
The Spa/Pool area looks breathtaking. With three artificial green walls covering some 72 square meters and four stunning circular light installations which are designed to hold more artificial foliage - Bean spray which cascaded in parts up to 1.9 meters in length. Clusters of artificial floor-standing plants in pots also frame the pool perimeter.
Property Alliance Group have put great thought into creating a place to live where we’re sure the residents won’t want to leave.
They say, ‘there’s no place like home’ and for those fortunate to now be living in Oxygen, Ancoats - recently named one of the ‘hottest postcodes in 2022’, it’s certainly true!
