Unicorn Grocery Chorlton

Founded in 1956, Unicorn Grocery Store has always been a champion of local and ethically sourced produce and environmentally friendly practices wherever possible. And over the years this worker-owned and run co-operative has continued to thrive. Earlier this year, Unicorn announced a major refurbishment project to the store - encompassing the inside and out. As part of this project, two HYVERT living walls were installed, one to the external facade (13sqm) and the second located in the entrance area (9.75sqm) greeting shoppers as they enter the store.

HYVERT is a perfect fit with the Unicorn brand and it's re-cycling values since even HYVERT's plant modules are locally manufactured from re-cycled batteries. Located in the heart of Chorlton Village, HYVERT will increase biodiversity into the area, remove air pollutants and help to off-set Unicorn's already carefully monitored carbon footprint. The living walls will also utilise a grey-water irrigation system so that not a drop of water will be wasted or used unnecessarily.
