Bruntwood Foundation Altrincham
We’re very proud to officially share the news that we have been appointed by Cubic Works on behalf of Bruntwood, to assist with the transformation of the former Rackham’s building in Altrincham into ‘Foundation’.
The transformation of this exciting retrofit project is already underway with the introduction of a HYVERT living wall scheduled for installation this coming Spring.
Measuring some 375 sqm and wrapped around the building’s facade, it will consist of around 36,000 carefully selected plants grown less than two miles away from Foundation, at our HYVERT living wall production site.
Situated directly opposite Altrincham Interchange, Foundation and HYVERT will create a fantastic new welcoming gateway to the town centre.
Not just visually appealing, Bruntwood Works’ Foundation will revitalise this area of the town centre even further by providing new office, retail and leisure space. And HYVERT will naturally boost biodiversity as well as reduce air pollution levels.
We have already installed air quality sensors within the vicinity and these will enable us to monitor, record and accurately measure carbon levels/absorption both prior to HYVERT installation and afterwards.
We hope that Foundation will become a working scientific model which demonstrates how retrofitting and repurposing older building stock can be a viable, sustainable alternative to new-build.
It will be a live science study for our Scientific Research and Development Lead, Joseph Rouse from Manchester Metropolitan University.
An absolute bonus to be working on a sustainable project which is so local to I Want Plants HQ too!
Our huge thanks to both Cubic Works and Bruntwood for this wonderful project opportunity.
